- MDF (Medium Density Fibre) board is a commonly used particle board
- Its main advantage compared to other particle boards and timbers is its clean finish
- With no grain or knots it’s easy to apply paints and veneers to its face side
- With its dense fibre body, MDF remains strong and holds its form if fixed in a sensible way
- Easy to fix with glues and screws
- Can be cut to suit various shapes and forms
- Easy to sand
- Takes well to most adhesives, paints and veneers
- Light surface makes marking easy to see
- Standard MDF is primarily used for internal use only
- Ensuring that it doesn’t come into contact with elements such as water, MDF will hold its form in any way it’s used
- Cutting and marking with either electrical saws or handsaws are used to your own benefits
- Making sure that all edges are sanded smooth after cutting will provide a clean and smooth finish when applying paints
- Doing so also prevents any harmful fibres being released from the board
